The time is nearing for the Glass Onion’s annual tribute to culinary matriarch Julia Child. Ever year we host a prix fixe dinner in honor of her birthday and feature classic French dishes from her repertoire. This year we will be celebrating on her special day, Wednesday, August 15, from 6 to 10 p.m.
While we love our Southern cooking here at the GO, we also love this opportunity to think outside the Southern “box” and pay homage to a true pioneer in American cooking. Julia played a major role in taking home cooks here in the USA to another level by introducing classic French techniques with her groundbreaking television series and cookbooks. Furthermore, she brought this difficult subject to her audience with infectious enthusiasm.
We attempt to do the same here at the GO — giving you a taste of the foods Julia loved along with a bit of her style.
